For this workshop, we will be painting flowers from Rosemary’s garden. Though we would love to say which flowers, this will really depend on what is in bloom at that time! We are sure there will be an abundance of beauty to choose from! We will paint all 5 days with Katie demonstrating throughout the workshop. Katie is happy to demonstrate each morning or demonstrate a few mornings and let the students work the rest of the time. Katie will often let the class vote on whether or not they want more demo time or less. This workshop is titled "Floral Studies" so students don't have the expectation they are going to come away with finished paintings. Katie paints very slowly, an individual flower will take anywhere from 1 to 5 days to complete (depending on the complexity and size of the bloom). For example, a sunflower like in the image in our poster made would typically take Katie 4 or 5 days to complete, about 30 hours of painting. Each student will paint their own individual flower, however there will be two students to one set up - either side of a still life stand.
The location of this workshop will be: Craven Hall, Sackville Street, Skipton, BD23 2PB, England. This is a short drive from the Rosemary & Co Workshop.
Medium: Oil
Number of students: Maximum 16
Experience: All levels however, Katie has asked me to let you know that flowers are deceptively hard to paint so familiarity with oil paints and materials is highly recommended.
Language: English
Included in this workshop is 5 days tuition, all your lunches, model fees, easels, paper towels, gloves and two evening meals. This price also includes 20% VAT. Non-painting partners are welcome to join us in the evenings at no extra fee, though if they’d like food etc then there may be a small charge.
Needless to say, you can purchase many things from our HQ including the brushes Katie uses, lots of paints, gamsol/miracle medium/mediums, some panels, easels (new for 2025) and more…just let us know well in advance. If you would like to borrow an easel, we can arrange that for you. However, if you prefer to use your own pochade or travel easel, please bring it - and let us know.
We will send out a materials list 4-6 weeks before the workshop itself. We do this as things can change with the teachers required supplies and this way it saves any confusion or buying twice. Please be patient with this, as soon as it’s ready, we will send it over to you.

You will need to organise your own accommodation (we can help you!) and you will need to organise your own travel arrangements. If you are flying from outside of the UK, you should try and fly into either Manchester (if flying outside the EU) or into Leeds/Bradford Airport if within the EU. We can arrange for a taxi to pick you up (From Manchester, 1.5 hour is around £120 one way, from Leeds/Bradford, 45 minutes is around £65 one way) or you can get an Uber! If you would like us to arrange these transfers, just ask. We have 8 rooms at our Rosemary & Co accommodations. This always sells first, and it is first-come, first served. Please do not arrange any travel or accommodation until you have signed up for the workshop itself.
Full payment is needed for the accommodation. For prices, and to book a space onsite, please let me know after you have signed up. I will then put you in contact with Janine. You must sign up for the workshop before we can confirm any on-site accommodation queries. We recommend if you are flying long haul, you come in a couple of days earlier and stay a day or so later so you can rest and not feel rushed.
You can see all of our Terms and Conditions and the Code of Conduct here. Please familiarise yourself with this before signing up.
