“There are workshops and then there are Workshops in Yorkshire Workshops. Attended the Shane Wolf week with WIY and was again simply blown away by the simple quality of the week! Let’s break this down into three simple sections 1. The workshop space and 2. The Teacher. 3. The models

1. The studio space is fantastic and there is nothing Symi and Joe cannot provide to ensure that your experience is nothing but top draw. From the moment Symi greets you with her warmth and enthusiasm to the moment you leave, there is nothing that is too much trouble. The “Snug” is where you chill, enjoy the company of fellow artists. The walls are adorned with artworks and palettes of (top) artists from around the world. Excellent refreshments are always available along with on tap beer and wine for the post session review! The two rooms in combination are a relaxing yet energising mix completely tuned to providing you with the best learning experience possible.

2. The Teacher:- Shane Wolf. Symi’s ability to attract the best art teachers across the globe continues with a second visit by Shane. He gave, what I can only describe as the best and most intensive overview of the artistic process that I have ever experienced. His clarity of thought, approach and generosity with his knowledge knew no bounds. A highly inspirational and considerate educator, nothing was too much trouble and all advice given was in context of your own ability. In my case he had his work cut out 🤗Added to the fact that he is one of the happiest human beings alive made for a highly educational and most brilliant week.

3. The Models:- Andrea Morani and Tatiana were two of the most incredible models one could ask for! Well done to Symi for pulling these two giants of the modelling world into WiY. To have such skilled masters of their craft available was simply sublime. Not only that they are wonderful, warm and witty folk!

“I think I speak for the majority of artists when I say that investing in your learning from the top practising artists of today is a big deal and a huge investment. Theres travel, accommodation, food etc all ontop of your workshop fee. However, nothing can replace being in the space with your mentor in person, zoom cant even replace this, sure you can learn most definitely from watching online, but there are more variables at play, there is an energy to being with your mentor and the small close knit group of fellow attendees. You cant replicate this online, it is 'physically' impossible. That is where Symi and Joe have created this perfect bubble in which you are cosseted for a whole week, so all you need focus on is learning and developing. It starts on a Sunday with a social that when you step in you know you are with like minded people serious about their art. The week is honestly surreal and at the end you don't want it to end. If Symi could bottle that and sell it she would be a millionaire and yet she comes very close and I believe is only going to get closer every year as the talent she is bringing in is extraordinary. So I started at the beginning talking about the huge investment, well to be honest you cant put a price on it. We battled extraordinary weather in June in Yorkshire out in the dales painting under the guidance of Jeremy Lipking, all that was missing was snow and yet I’d do it all again in a shot and I’m not a plein air painter! Symi and Joe really have created something special and they not only take care of the visiting tutors they take care of every single individual who walks through their door in Skipton. They are not only highly professional in everything they do but down to earth also with a sense of humour to boot.
