Animal Portraits in Oil Workshop
Join artist, Jennifer Gennari for an immersive oil painting workshop focused on capturing the beauty, personality, and spirit of animals through traditional oil painting techniques.
Working from your own reference photographs, you’ll learn how to develop a painting from the initial drawing through the final details while building a strong foundation in composition, value, color, edges, and form. Throughout the workshop, Jennifer will demonstrate her traditional approach to oil painting, sharing the methods she uses to create luminous, lifelike animal portraits.
Students will receive individual instruction tailored to their skill level, with an emphasis on observation, brushwork, color mixing, and creating convincing fur, feathers, eyes, and other textures. Whether you’re painting a beloved pet or wildlife, you’ll gain practical techniques that can be applied to future work long after the workshop has ended.
Students should bring several high-quality reference photographs of the animal they wish to paint. Jennifer will help you select the strongest composition and guide you through the painting process step by step.
This workshop is ideal for artists with some drawing or painting experience who want to strengthen their understanding of traditional oil painting while creating a meaningful animal portrait in a supportive, inspiring environment.
Maximum students: 16.
