TJ Cunningham Workshop 2026

I’m TJ Cunningham, an oil painter deeply connected to the landscapes and rural life of Vermont, where I grew up. My work focuses on capturing the quiet beauty and emotional depth of the places I know best—small farms, wooded hills, and serene streams that have inspired generations of artists before me. What excites me most about my art is the challenge of conveying not just the visual aspects of a scene, but the atmosphere, the mood, and the sense of place that make these landscapes so meaningful.

In addition to creating art, I’m passionate about teaching. Through my platform, ‘The Art Journey,’ I guide other artists in mastering the techniques of oil painting, with a special focus on landscapes and natural scenes. It’s incredibly rewarding to see students grow in confidence and skill, particularly as they learn to bring their own interpretations to the subjects we explore.

Looking ahead, I’m always exploring new ways to connect with people who share my love for art and the landscapes that inspire it. Whether through exhibitions, courses, or simply sharing my work online, my goal is to continue creating pieces that resonate deeply with those who encounter them.

5 Day plein air painting workshop focused on the amazing Yorkshire landscape.

While the current plan is 100% plein air, TJ intends to poll the students to see what format they’re most excited about. If there’s strong interest, we could shift to a half-studio / half-plein air structure to better meet demand.

We will have a maximum of 16 students for the workshop.

• 5 days Tuition from TJ

• Wonderful, fresh packed lunches and snacks every day

• Two evening meals, at least one will be home cooked!

• Transport to the daily locations if you are staying in Skipton (so you can avoid the cost and stress of driving a rental car!) If you are in the UK and are willing to drive, or will be renting a car, do let us know.

• VAT (20% UK Sales Tax)

We offer payment plans. The first payment secures your place and is your deposit. The second is required 3 months later. The third, three months from then.

We split the payment into three equal amounts (£565.00 GBP).

So, although you can pay via the website, they charge extra fees. Truth be told, there’s extra fees for all international payments, but if we call you and take payment over the phone, it’s only 4%.

If you are in the UK, you should do a bank transfer as there are no bank fees that way.

If you book through the website, we will need to ask you for a 5% bank fee payment.
